WHY ?

Whilst the loss of a child is a very unpleasant experience for anyone, the case of Madeleine McCann seems to be turning into a merry go round.

Perfectly capable Portuguese Police Detectives were close to solving the case despite all the aggravation on the side being created by the Parents.  Then in step the UK Government who immediately start spending millions of pounds on their investigation and who, so far, have not come up with anything more than 40 "suspects" who for weeks now have still not been interviewed or dealt with.

When this is all over questions need to be asked as to why so much effort and financial and other resources have been put into this one case.   Will every alleged child abduction case in the future receive this treatment?  We doubt it!

IF ONLY, IF ONLY !

IF ONLY Dr Gerry McCann and Dr Kate McCann had NOT left their THREE young children, unattended, unsupervised, unwatched and on their own, whilst they went out with their friends on that evening in May, little Madeleine McCann could still be enjoying life in the company of her Parents and her Siblings.

Maybe, people should remember this!

IF ONLY, IF ONLY Kate McCann would give evidence under Oath in the trial of Ex-Detective Amaral.   Is there some special reason for everyone giving evidence on her behalf when she claims to be the agrieved?

THE TRIAL

The trial in Portugal in which the McCanns are claiming damages against Ex-detective Amaral has now started.  The claim, reported to be for £1m, has been brought against Mr Amaral for his alleged libellous comments in his book "The Truth of the Lie".
It is interesting that Kate McCann, who considers herself the most aggrieved by Amaral's comments, will not be giving evidence herself.  By keeping herself out of the witness box she will also save having to answer any questions.  As the case revolves around the disappearance of Maddie and her possible fate some questions could have been very searching.  It makes one wonder if this is why Kate McCann has decided not to testify!
We think she would have gained more support from the public had she faced Mr Amaral across the Court and given him the opportunity of defending himself against his accuser.
Like many others we are looking forward to the outcome of the hearing.

Added at later date
We are watching the accounts of the trial, and the various comments being made on the McCanns behalf in evidence. We have now read that Kate had suicidal thoughts in the past due to Maddies disappearance, but rather surprised that this has not been reported before during all the interviews and publicity there has been. Surely such evidence would be better, and carry more weight, if she took to the witness box herself? Is there possibly some reason that the McCanns do not want their evidence challenged in cross examination? WHERE DOES THE TRUTH LIE, with Amaral and the Portuguese Police or with the McCanns and the alleged abductot? We hope the waiting will be soon over, and the truth of little Maddies fate will be known.

THE FISH THAT GET AWAY!

Some weeks ago it was widely reported that the British Police on the case had 38 suspects that they wished to interview.  Since then time has passed, the publicity has been repeated and we now learn that Officers from the UK will soon be travelling to Portugal to continue the investigations.

In the meantime, we wonder what those 38 people have been doing, in the light of the fact that they may be taken into custody sometime in the future.   Presuming that of the 38, only one or two would be connected with the alleged Maddie abduction, those one or two would be making themselves pretty scarce.   Maybe they have been given too much warning and the chance of the Police finding them may well lead to a wild goose chase to the nether parts of the World.

We wonder what "evidence", if any, the Police hope to find, or will it just be some "opportunistic", "circumstantial", "you were there at the time" evidence that any decent defence lawyer will be able to drive a tank through?  The evidence was in and around the flat at the time of Maddies disappearance.    The Portuguese Police were presented with forensic evidence, witness statements, and enough circumstantial evidence and other facts to conclude everything there and then.   The main man, Detective Amaral was discharged from the case!     The full reason for his removal has never been explained, although pressure from "high places" has been mooted.   It makes one wonder, if the British Police get close to a solution, will they suffer the same ignominy?   Let's wait and see!

PEOPLE IN HIGH PLACES

Ever since the Madeleine saga began on that evening in May 2007, on the sidelines and in the background have been a number of people in the upper echelons of UK politics.

It had to happen!

Clarence Mitchell, an ex BBC Reporter, who has acted as the McCann's spokesperson for the past 6 years has now chosen to get involved in "real" politics.  He has been selected as the Conservative (no surprise there) Candidate for the constituency of Brighton and Hove.   Of course, he does assert that whilst he is seeking his political fortunes, he will still continue his work for the McCann's, "when required".   Does he maybe hope that there is a chance of his being released from his promotional duties with them?  A Blessed relief possibly?

The McCanns are still managing to maintain a presence in the UK Press, but with such uninteresting headlines as the news of Clarence's future, maybe people will become less interested in the continuing story of Maddie and her parents.

All the rather "non-news" of late makes one wonder if it is the lull before the storm and that we are shortly to get something really positive regarding the on-going investigation.  An arrest maybe?  Or possibly some tragic and worse news?   We wait . . . . . . . . . whilst the clock ticks on.

NO APOLOGIES FOR REPEATING THIS COMMENT

This from the Delaware Times USA (July 9th 2013):

"By CHRIS FREIND
Times Columnist

In past columns, I have championed Don Imus keeping his job, defended Barry Bonds’ achievements and stood up for the falsely accused Duke lacrosse players long before it was “fashionable” for the media to do so. I even opined that Paris Hilton was wrongly jailed, receiving unfair treatment because she was a celebrity.

But no matter how much I try, I simply cannot find anything worth defending about British couple Gerry and Kate McCann.

The McCanns, for a reason that wholly escapes me, have been worldwide media darlings since their then-3-year-old daughter, Madeleine, disappeared from a Portuguese resort in 2007. A disappearance, mind you, that was 100 percent preventable had Maddy’s parents — both well-to-do physicians — not left her alone, along with her twin 2-year-old siblings, in a ground-floor unlocked apartment not once, but repeatedly, while they sampled the local paella far from their children.

Such gross negligence should have made them pariahs, but instead, their vaunted PR machine fashioned them into something akin to “heroic victims.”

Over the years, they have raised millions, engendered the support of (misguided) icons such David Beckham and J.K. Rowling, had a private audience with the Pope, met with high-ranking staff of then-First Lady Laura Bush, wrote a book, and otherwise lavished in the limelight as globetrotting celebrities.

Along the way, lawsuits have been threatened against anyone who dared question the McCanns’ complicity in their daughter’s fate, despite significant inconsistencies in their stories. Quite sickeningly, their actual search for Maddy all too often seemed like an afterthought, as it was much cooler to hang with stars and dignitaries than do the grunt work.

Yet for all the baggage that should accompany them, their star power still shines bright, as the Scotland Yard, upon the direction of Prime Minister David Cameron himself, just re-opened the investigation, citing new leads and “persons of interest.”

Really? After six years and millions of British taxpayers’ money later, they finally have persons of interest?

Aren’t there laws on the books in Britain against child endangerment? Reckless behavior? Negligence? And to those who say Britain can’t prosecute for a crime committed overseas, you can’t have it both ways, as British investigators are reaching out across Europe in a (likely ill-fated) attempt to interrogate and possibly have suspects arrested in other countries.

It seems increasingly clear that McCann case is no longer about what happened to a little girl, but an attempt — some say cover-up — to absolve “upstanding Brits” of any responsibility, conveniently blaming Portugal, the poor man of Europe, for a botched investigation and overall ineptness.

Looking past the gushing pro-McCann headlines, many the world over believe the parents, accidentally or otherwise, were directly responsible for Maddy’s fate. I certainly cannot make that claim, though Gerry and Kate would seem to be guilty of child endangerment. That said, there remain inconsistencies which, to this day, remain unanswered.

Therefore, if Scotland Yard wishes to retain its legendary reputation, it needs to investigate the case from Square One, objectively, free from outside influence. No sacred cows, and no one off the table. And the only way to do that is to start with Gerry and Kate, (and their friends who accompanied them that fateful night), forcing the parents to answer tough questions. The taxpayers, and those who have so faithfully followed this saga for so long, deserve no less.

You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to ask the following:

1.) Will the McCanns and their friends take lie-detectors tests? While not guaranteed, they’re a good barometer. If there is nothing to hide, releasing the results would be a public relations boon, and the investigation could center on Madeleine — for a change.

2.) What time was Madeleine discovered missing? Was it 9 o’clock, as Kate states, or 10 o’clock as others report, and why the discrepancy? How long did it take for anyone to initially call the police, as there are reports of a significant delay. Kate stated that the shutters were forced open, but the police and hotel staff said there was no evidence of tampering. And Kate, why, upon discovering that your daughter was missing, did you return to the restaurant, leaving the 2-year-old twins alone (again!), while a predator could still have been lurking nearby?

3.) Kate yelled, “They’ve taken her”, but how did she know Madeleine was abducted? After all, the doors were unlocked, and Madeleine was known to sleepwalk.

Or perhaps this little girl just happened to awaken, scared,in a dark, unfamiliar place, and looked for the comfort of her parents. Not seeing them, might she have walked out the unlocked door to find them? And when Kate initially yelled “they” took her, to whom was she referring?

4.) The resort was extremely child-friendly. Why not use its inexpensive baby-sitting services? Some reports state that the McCanns did not want the children to be around people with whom they were unfamiliar. Yet, the same people who ran the day camp the children attended were also the baby sitters. And how could “strangers” be any worse than leaving three young children (with a combined age of 7) alone in an unlocked apartment?

5.) How often did the parents check the children before Madeleine went missing? Every hour, half-hour, or not at all? (The statements of the resort staff differ markedly from the McCanns). Since the room was a considerable distance away from the restaurant, and its view blocked, how could the McCanns compare that “secure arrangement” to eating in their backyard garden?

6.) During a BBC interview, Kate was adamant that the children would not awaken while she and Gerry were dining. Yet, since Madeleine reportedly had a history of sleepwalking, how could Kate be so sure of this?

7.) How many nights did the McCanns dine out while leaving the children alone? What were the distances of those restaurants from their room? Were any away from the hotel?

8.) How much money raised has actually has been allocated to the physical search for Madeleine? A thorough and independent forensic audit should be conducted.

9.) In an earlier interview, the McCanns stated, “Looking at it from where we are now, I don’t feel we were irresponsible, I feel we are very responsible parents.” Do they still feel that way?

10.) Assume that the police dog was accurate in its detection of death in the room, and the death was that of Madeleine. Why then would the perpetrator take away a dead child?

At a minimum, these questions are a logical starting point to get to the bottom of Madeleine’s disappearance.

As a wise man once said, lies reveal more than they conceal. If Scotland Yard does its job, perhaps we shall put that saying to the test.

ESCALATED TO MAJOR INTERNATIONAL GANG!

The latest news to hit the Maddie Headlines is that the Police are now theorising that there is a large gang at work in the business of child stealing.   It has only taken 6 years to propose this theory, which was probably considered at the time of the incident, and discarded!

Is this a case of  "let's confuse the public as to exactly what we are doing"?     Or  maybe to put one or two individuals off their guard, thinking that they are now in the clear?

Well, having now made this dramatic statement, we should see action, arrests and prosecutions in the very near future, shouldn't we?

Friday, 5 July 2013

POLICE NOW HAVE POSITIVE LEADS

The latest reports from the British Police investigating the Maddie disappearance tell us that they have now have "positive" information and wish to interview 38 "possible suspects".  That is one for each of the Officers on the case plus one spare!  Apparently the McCanns and their friends are not included in the list and are presumably being considered as innocent bystanders.

From all the information we have read in the Press, on the Internet or have gained from conversations with other interested people, we all have our own theories as to what happened on that day in May, six years ago.

We have the blood on the wall and floor, the cadaver in the wardrobe, the missing tennis holdall, the cadaver in the hire car, the statements of various people around at the time, the body language of people interviewed on TV and the dramatic action and appeals started within almost minutes of the event.  We have read Amaral's book and a few others from different journalists, we have watched the McCanns constant fund raising and efforts at creating World-wide publicity.  The result so far - zilch - apart from another long list of "people who could be involved".

As the Police are aware the vast majority of abductions are carried out by relatives or acquaintances of the family.  A few for monetary gain and a few to satisfy a couples want for a child.  To keep a child, such as Maddie, out of the public arena for such a long period of time is quite unusual.   With all the publicity an abductor seeking monetary gain would realise that the chances of succeeding now would be nigh impossible.  There is therefore only one conclusion to draw.

We think that the Police may put a little bit of a twist in the tail of their investigations.

This case meeds to be brought to a conclusion without further delay.

THE SILENT SEVEN

Further reports in the Press since the last post have not shown any positive change in the situation and the Police are still considering the 20 people they, reportedly, want to "speak to".

We are surprised that since that fateful day in May, the rest of the McCann's holiday party, known as the Tapas Seven, have been remarkably quiet.   They were there at the time of the alleged abduction and one would have thought that they would be high on the list of people to interview, in order to bring forward any little point or matter they had previously missed, that could throw additional light on the happenings.  Apparently the Police think otherwise.

We are also surprised that the Seven have not been sought out by the Press!   Surely there is a story there somewhere that would be of interest to anyone following this high profile case?  Again, apparently not so!

MADDIE STEALS THE FRONT PAGE AGAIN

Sunday Express, 19 May 2013, reveals that a "key" witness states that a middle aged couple entered the McCann flat to comfort Maddie when she was crying, on the evening before her abduction.  Apparently this is "new" and "significant" evidence, even many years after the event, and probably yet another clutch at straws!   It seems the McCanns were, as usual, wining and dining after having left the children alone and unsupervised.   The resident upstairs stated that Maddie's crying could be heard on most evenings when the parents were out.  The lady has since  unfortunately died, but she did make a statement at the time.

It is amazing - how did the "middle aged couple" who have now entered the scene,  get into the flat to comfort the child?  Or is that a bit of mis-reporting, or was the apartment actually left insecure?

The Police now have 20 people they wish to "interview", so what have they been doing so far in the months they have had available?  37 times NO-A-LOT it seems.

It is a well know fact that the vast majority of crime against children, including abduction, is perpetrated by family, close friends or people known to the family.   As unbelievable as it may seem, the crime of child abduction is rarely carried out by strangers.

In our opinion a re-enactment of the crime, the return of detective Amaral and his team, and a re- assessment of the forensic and other evidence obtained at the time, is the only way forward.

HOT AIR IS CHEAP

Today's Daily Express headlines the Madeleine disappearance yet again, with what appears to be an exclusive break-through in the investigation.

After having read the whole article we find that it is just a lot of hot (or more like tepid) air with no positive news regarding any developments in the case.  Rather it seems to be trying to justify the efforts of the 37 Police Officers employed on the job and saying that the person or persons responsible must be out there somewhere, and they will be searching through their files to eliminate suspects from their investigations.   Putting it bluntly the message seems to be, "We are no further on than we were 12 months ago, but will continue!"

Their hope appears to centre on the recent discovery of the three women in America who were abducted and found alive after almost 10 years of imprisonment in their abductor's house.

Or is there some hidden message in this latest report,  especially as they now appear to be trying to move the case back to its origin in Portugal?

RETURN THEM ALL TO PORTUGAL

We have no excuse for echoing the front page headline from today's Sunday Express where the former suspect Robert Murat suggests that the episode surrounding Maddie's alleged abduction should be replayed on the original stage, in and around the apartment of the Holiday Complex from where she disappeared.
The Portuguese Police also need to become involved in any reconstruction with Detective Amaral being recalled to lead the investigation team.
ALL the evidence including that provided by the British dogs and the Forensic team needs re-examining, as does that of all the witnesses to any pertinent event.
The rest of those on Holiday with the McCanns, who have all been remarkably quiet since that fateful day, need to play their part and speak out giving every detail they are able without fear of recrimination should they add further to their original statements.

The case must be resolved and those responsible brought to book if found.  It cannot be allowed to continue ad infinitum.

SIX YEARS HENCE

Six years ago today, in Praia da Luz, in The Algarve of Portugal,  an exclamation by Kate McCann from the balcony of a rented holiday apartment, sparked off one of the biggest and most expensive man hunts ever.
Many of us have read, in detail, the various accounts and theories as to Madeleine McCann's disappearance and the alleged abduction by a person or persons, as yet unknown.  We have seen the attempts made by various agencies, the Portuguese Police, a Spanish Detective Agency, Ex UK Police Detectives, Leicestershire Police and now the resources of Scotland Yard, to find a solution to the mystery.  Achievement so far - NOTHING POSITIVE.
Due to interference by UK Government the Portuguese Detective who was making progress with the case was removed from his task.   Perhaps this was the biggest mistake that was made.   Many are convinced that had Detective Amaral remained on the case it would now just be part of history.

Many people also regard the Parents of Madeleine as being responsible for their child's disappearance by leaving them totally unattended and without supervision when they went off with their friends to eat, drink and be merry.

Everyone feels sorry for Madeleine and, naturally, hope she will be found one day.
Very little sympathy is felt for the McCann parents who many consider were, by their actions, a contributing factor to their own loss.

£4.5 million and RISING

It is reported today that bill for the Scotland Yard Police put on the Maddie case in May, 2011 has now risen to £4.5 million, and with more to come.   There has been no positive result so far, as the sixth anniversary of the crime looms on 3rd May.
How much more will be spent on what appears to be a fruitless exercise?
If Maddie is in the hands of abductors it is unlikely they would allow her anywhere that she could be recognised, and would also take every step to disguise her.   By now Maddie herself would probably have been conditioned to the life style of her abductors and could well have forgotten her previous existence prior to 3 May 2007.  A positive DNA test would be the only evidence of her identity, and it would certainly be very difficult for her to integrate back into her own family.
Assuming that she is still alive, there is an argument for her to be left with her abductors and hope that she has  a good and fruitful life in her new environment.

THE LONDON MARATHON 2013

Kate McCann is apparently participating in the London Marathon.  On the Daybreak Program she did mention a number of recent injuries that she said may affect her performance.

Kate managed the 26 miles and a few yards in around 4 hours, so a reasonable performance for a 45 year old!  In doing so she raised over £20,000 for lost persons charity.

100 REASONS WHY . . . . . . .

Maybe it is time to go back a couple of years, closer to the time that Madeleine was allegedly abducted, and have a new look at some of the "evidence" of the time.   A good place to start would be the article "100 REASONS WHY MADELEINE McCANN WAS NOT ABDUCTED"  .  Check it out and see what you decide.

MORE "NO NEWS"

According to the aforementioned member of the Tabloid Press, there are still 30+ Scotland Yard  Police Officers working on the Madeleine McCann case.  The cost to the taxpayer must now run into MILLIONS and for what?  There has not been ONE POSITIVE REPORT of any findings leading to the arrest or prosecution of any known or unknown suspect.   In fact the only person they seem to want to blame the abduction on is a poor old man who died some time ago in a German hospital.

Why must we go on paying for all this?  The McCann's have had the Portuguese Police on the case, but got rid of the main Investigator; maybe because he was a getting little too close to the truth.  Then it was the un-brilliant services of Metodo 3, from Spain who took the money everyone had donated but achieved absolutely nothing.  Then a couple of ex cops from the UK who were paid handsomely but got nowhere with their investigations.   The UK Police, now on the case, are doing little no better, so one must ask whether it is still worth throwing more money after what seems to be a lost cause?

One idea could be to get 500 or 1,000 people to go to Luz armed with shovels and start digging, on the beach or wherever the inclination takes them.

I always recall the words, "I feel closest to M..... when I am by the rocks on the beach."

HOW OBSCENE

Front Page articles from Daily Express, Wednesday, 17th. April 2013, being the day of the Ceremonial Funeral of Margaret Thatcher.

Apart from the Maddie picture on the cover, Kate McCann is now the "Page Three Girl" as the whole page is taken up with an article. . . . . .
KATE McCANN ON HER AGONY FOR MADELEINE

One would have thought that even Madeleine's parents would have given the funeral the respect it deserved without, once again, reminding us of Madeleine's demise.

As usual the McCann's are "cashing" in on someone else's event - and the day of a Funeral for an ex Prime Minister  should have been kept sacrosanct, no matter what one thought about her.

We think it is time for the McCanns to get on with life.

What do you think?

AMARAL'S BOOK

Detective Amaral's Book has never been published in English, however much of the evidence and much information about the alleged abduction is available here:
http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2009/04/maddie-truth-of-lie-documentary.html

Many people feel that the case should be completely reopened and to this effect there is a Petition for just such action.  Its objects can be seen here, and you may sign the Petition should you desire:

HOW MANY MADDIES?

I am a regular visitor to Portugal and have been holidaying in The Algarve for 40 years.  When I am there, around the towns and villages, in the cafes, on the beach, in the swimming pools and in the hotels, one sees hundreds, if not thousands, of small blonde girls, any of whom could be mistaken for Madeleine.
With this in mind, it makes me wonder why someone went to such measures to abduct a small child like Maddie, when there must have been easier opportunities to do so anywhere on the Algarve.   And why in such a small place where their possibilities for escape by road was rather limited.   Maybe Maddie never left Praia da Luz at the hands of an abductor?

MISS - INFORMATION

I haven't posted on the Blog for some time as very little seems to be happening and there is just no POSITIVE news about the mystery of Madeleine's disappearance.   However, there has been reports of "sightings" in various parts of the World, the latest being a "positive" sighting in Cyprus of a family with a child that resembled Maddie, even down to the eye defect.

WHAT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND IS WHY THE PEOPLE MAKING THE SIGHTINGS DO NOT IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THE POLICE, SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY OR EVEN TAKE PERSONAL ACTION TO CHECK OUT THE SITUATION.

I am sure that any innocent adult, or family, would only be too keen to co-operate!   So far no one seems to have bothered to take action until it is much too late and another sighting of Maddie just finishes up as a piece of non news.

Which leads me to believe that all the publicity being bandied about is nothing more than total
MISS - INFORMATION!

POLICE INCOMPETENCE

.
If the "cream" of the British Police can't find the body of a dead child in a house that they spent hours searching, what chance has Maddie?
.

Tuesday, 1 May 2012

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE . . . . .

.
So far with an army of detectives from Scotland Yard, "leads" and information from the Spanish Metodo 3, other "leads" and information from the private detectives hired by the McCann's (with all the money donated by the public), is it not about time that some positive result was in sight?

The opinion of many intelligent people is that Detective Amaral was on the right lines until he was relieved of his responsibilities, apparently due to pressure on the Portuguese from the UK.

Why don't they go back to square one and look at the evidence that was gathered in and around the apartment.  The cadaver in the bedroom closet, and in the hire car.  The blood stains.  The wild story about someone having entered through the window, without any evidence.  The tale of the "man carrying a child", the evidence from the Smith's.  There is an awful lot of work that could be done by looking back to Luz Bay!

We only hope that with all this new effort and very high cost of manpower an arrest will be made and due punishment given.

We just wonder if the UK Government will give the same support and help should another child go missing in the future!

A FUNNY STATEMENT

.
I have been following the Madeleine McCann mystery abduction since day one.  One particular statement has constantly kept my attention.  Apparently when Kate found Maddie missing she is reported to have said:
"They've taken her."
To my mind this was a very unusual statement to make!
Who are "THEY"?   And who is "HER"?   What was Kate really saying?
Would it not be more normal to say something like, "Has anyone seen Maddie?"  "Does anyone know where Maddie is?"   "Maddie is not in her bed."    "Is Maddie with you?" .  Certainly such expressions would be more in keeping with the actual circumstances.  How is it that her mind seems to have immediately thought of an abduction?   Was this a slip of her tongue?
The statement  made by Kate, to me, implies that there was already some knowledge of what had happened.   With a reported 35  British Police now on the case, I hope for everyone's sake the whole matter can be brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

STILL NO NEWS - WHY?

.
We are now reading in the Press (due to the imminent anniversary of Madeline's disappearance) that despite the intervention of Scotland Yard and British Police no further progress seems to have been made on solving this "Mystery".    How many Officers and how much money is this costing us?   Will the same attention be given to every other child that goes missing in a foreign country, or even our own?

(But apparently it is now time to do a bit more fund raising.)

I wonder if these "detectives" have read Amaral's book?  There seems to be lots of evidence in there, or at the very least something to give them some ideas!

Kate McCann has always said that she feels closest to Maddie when she is sitting by the rocks on Luz Beach - maybe there is a message there somewhere!

Sorry the Blog has been a bit short of news but there just isn't any!

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS?

.
Today's Daily Express has loaded its front page with a large picture of Maddie and tells us that 4 Officers have had a few trips to Spain and Portugal.   The usual "we can't say anything yet about our enquiries" merely informs us that they have not yet made any progress.

Inside the paper Kate McCann gives the usual statement, "There is absolutely nothing to suggest that Madeleie has been harmed."  Except of course for:

The blood stains, the cadaver in the room, the cadaver in the car and a few other pertinent facts that were highlighted by Detective Amaral before he was shunted off the case!

BRITISH POLICE - NO NEWS YET

.
Since the recent announcement of the introduction of 30 British Police Officers being allocated to the case we have not yet had any feedback or news of any progress.

Of course the trail is cold, but maybe a good chat with Detective Amaral would help to light a spark in their endeavours.  Will the British Police take notice of the evidence presented during the Portuguese investigation?  The cadaver in the bedroom and the car, the missing tennis holdall, the blood behind the setee, the evidence from independent witnesses not connected to the Tapas nine?   The questionable statements of the McCanns and their friends and all the other pointers highlighted by Amaral?

I hope the Brits do as good a job as we know they are capable and serve Justice on the perpetrators of this crime.  Whoever they may be!   Or will the Officers merely regard the whole exercise as a great Algarve holiday in the Sun, as so far we have had no information on progress.

Will families in the future who experience a similar incident get the same support and attention?  Let's wait and see!

NEW TEAM, NEW HOPE, NEW IDEAS

.
Kate and Gerry McCann hope three new investigators will help solve their daughter’s disappearance - as reported on Sunday, 10 October 2010.

Kate and Gerry McCann are convinced three new investigators will help solve their daughter’s disappearance and she told a friend yesterday: “A new team, new ideas and new hope!”

Chief investigator David Edgar has boosted his team with three former policemen: Nigel Brown, who was named Investigator Of The Year after securing the rescue of a kidnapped oil company executive, Dave Carter, who worked in Northern Ireland, and Ray Cooper, who investigated war crimes in Bosnia.  The three, paid by the Find Maddie Fund, are now in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

What they are doing in Lisbon is beyond belief, they are probably on a sight seeing tour!

Kate has visited friends in Praia da Luz and went alone to the Catholic Church and wept as she prayed.  Just another return trip to the resort where her daughter, now seven years old, was snatched nearly three-and-a-half years ago.

A family source said: “Kate has been given fresh hope by her visit to ‘Luz’ and by the fact three new highly regarded investigators are injecting new impetus into the search for Madeleine. She didn’t meet the investigators but stayed with the local Anglican priest Father Haynes Hubbard and his wife Susan, who have become very close friends.  Well she couldn't meet the new "team", they are in Lisbon!

The McCann source said: “They are in Portugal on a semi- permanent basis. “When new leads come in they are there to chase them up. They are an ideal addition to the team and, in Gerry’s words, have vowed to leave no stone unturned. “Kate is upbeat because she is convinced they will have new ideas and methods of working, which gives her new hope.”

Family doctor Kate, 42, spent last weekend in Luz while relatives looked after her twins Sean and Amelia, five.  Passing the buck again.

I think the "Team" should gather their buckets and spades together and go and start digging in and around Praia da Luz

DIRECTORS RESIGN -

.
The brother of Gerry McCann has quit the Madeleine Fund amid a drive to inject new dynamism into the search for the missing seven-year-old.

John McCann has been a dedicated director since the fund was launched more than three years ago.  Latest company accounts show he left last month along with fellow director Douglas Skehan.

On their website, neither Kate nor Gerry McCann mentioned the names of the directors who have left.

The McCanns stated,  “There will be some changes and development in terms of strategy and ideas as we endeavour to leave no stone unturned in our search.  This will include some changes to the board of Madeleine’s Fund, simply to try to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of what we are doing. It has now been three years and four months since Madeleine was taken from us. None of us ever thought we’d still be in the position we are today. Inevitably there has to be change for a variety of reasons but importantly, this will also allow people to help and support us in different ways.  Regardless of change, everyone’s focus, commitment and desire continues to be that of finding Madeleine.”

Further comments continue with, “Keeping Madeleine’s image out there greatly increases our chances of finding her.  It is a reminder to people that she is still missing and to please keep looking for her."

It added, "In addition, we know that somebody knows where Madeleine is."

And a lot of people have a good idea who that somebody is!

The Truth of the Matter

.
This little girl went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on 3rd May 2007 when she was on holiday with her Parents and her twin siblings.
It is generally not known whether she is dead or alive. It IS known that had she not been left unattended and unprotected by her parents whilst they went out with friends to wine and dine she would be with them today.
.
The Parents Gerry and Kate McCann, both of whom are Doctors, and should have been more responsible looking after their children.

Speculation and accusation is rife!

.
Since 3rd May 2007 there has been, and probably will continue to be, much speculation about the facts surrounding the "disappearance" of Madeleine McCann, the 3 year old Daughter of Gerry and Kate McCann.  She disappeared late in the evening from her bedroom in their holiday apartment at the Mark Warner centre at Praia da Luz in the Algarve whilst her parents were dining with friends in a nearby Tapas Bar.
.
Many people have, in the light of the evidence produced by the Portuguese Police, considered that the parents may have been involved in some way.  Some people and Internet Blogs and Forums have even suggested that the child may have died in the apartment and there was collusion to cover up the "disappearance".   Much has been written about the evidence produced by the Portuguese Police, and also from the outside assistance received such as from the cadaver dogs brought in by the UK Police.
.
The Lawyers Carter Ruck, who have been engaged by the McCanns, have attempted to close down many Internet information sources generally issuing "threats" of legal action.  However such sites seem to reappear in other forms very quickly afterwards.
.
Irrespective of the speculation surrounding the case and the efforts of various agencies in finding the answers to Madeleine's disappearance one thing remains true and cannot be denied by the McCanns or Carter Ruck...
.
If Madeleine HAD NOT BEEN LEFT UNATTENDED AND UNPROTECTED on that fateful evening of 3rd May 2007, SHE WOULD NOT, AND COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABDUCTED.
.
Therefore, whatever Madeleines present situation, dead or alive, it can only be attributed to the serious neglect by her parents at that time.  The blame lies solely with them but, as yet, they do not seem to accept this indisputable fact.
.
We don't think that even Carter Ruck can argue with that!  But we shall see.

HOW PEREVERSE CAN THEY GET

.
Students for Madeleine McCann:
First her parents call her a 'marketing ploy', now she's a 'project'

Support: Students for Madeleine

"We know many students travel over the summer, take gap-year travel and also go places off the beaten path. We are launching a new initiative for students to help in the search for Madeleine.

If you would like to help with this project, please send the information below to: students_for_madeleine@findmadeleine.com."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well done McCanns you've gone and done it again haven't you?
Now you want to enlist students to help with your 'project', which just happens to be your missing daughter, Madeleine - but first you want to know all kinds of details about these students, like what University or school they go to, what they're studying, what social networking sites they use (don't forget to read the Gaspar statements kids), or whether they're travelling this year and where they're going!
What gives the McCanns the right to ask students, paticularly schoolchildren, to divulge personal information before they can sign up to help find their daughter when they didn't even search for her themselves because it was too dark? Dave Edgar, their private detective, told the media ten months ago that Madeleine is being held captive in a secret lair in a lawless village in Praia da Luz. Have they even searched there yet?
I wonder if the students will have to buy their good quality wristbands and travel packs, which consists of 10 English posters, 2 luggage tags, 2 wallet cards and a car sticker, from their online Madeleine store which still bears the date 2006.
LIBEL LAWS
.
It seems that the new Government are to have a look at the Libel Laws and no doubt changes will be made.  We are reminded of two quotations:
There is a wide difference between speaking to deceive, and being silent to be impenetrable.
Voltaire
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
BRAIN NOT IN GEAR - MOUTH OPEN
.
An anonymous reader has raised the fact that Gerry McCann, when speaking about his cycle ride in the Etape to raise funds for the Limited Company formed to deal with the donated funds to find Madeleine, said:
"I finished 171st out of over 3500 finishers so there is not much room for improvement next year!"
Do we take it from that statement that he is not expecting to find Madeleine in the next 12 months and will wish to cycle for funds yet again?  From this can we also assume that he is privy to some information about the whereabouts of Madeleine that we are yet to have revealed?
Are Carter Ruck aware of the faux pas and also others made in the past?   We wonder what their reaction will be, or are they just content to continue relieving the Maddie fund on paying their (no doubt high) legal fees?
IS THIS GERRY OR ?????
..
.
Todays Sunday Express carries yet another "was it him" picture taken on the beach at PdL before Maddie disappeared.   Why does such rubbish take over 3 years to be brought before the public who, maybe at the time, could have given some assistance.
We have studied the picture and, quite frankly, it could be almost anyone, including Gerry McCann himself!   The story given by the woman who took the snap is quite plausible as there are plenty of "con men" and "beggers" in the Algarve who will dream up any story to gain a small donation.  We have been accosted by them ourselves but would not credit them with the intelligence to attempt abduction.
Quoting from another source:
In the case of an abduction, the waters are further muddied, but the sentiment and message is the same. The United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Juvenile Justice Bulletin, June 2000 states that in the case of the abduction of a child, their researches show that the parents are involved in 49% of cases, acquaintances in 27% and 24% of cases, a stranger.
We do not think that todays revelation will assist or enhance the current investigation.
81 MILES TO SWELL THE FUND OF ALL FUNDS
He'll be there somewhere
.
A reader posted the following link to Gerry's 81 mile bike ride: http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2010/05/another-81-miles-for-madeleine-gerry.html
We visited the site and after reading the Limited Company history we moved to the "Donate" page.  We were confronted with the Objects of the Fund as follows:
The full objects of the Fund are:
.
To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;
.
To procure that Madeleine’s abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and
.
To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family.
.
If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.
.
We would like to comment that there is no evidence that we have seen, from forensic means, by reliable witness statements or otherwise, indicating that Madeleine was actually abducted.  As there is NO such evidence there can only be a suspicion of an abduction having taken place and consequently there can be no certainty that there is, or was, an actual abductor.    Hence, the object of the fund is flawed in its conception by such references having been made.
.
Perhaps were better to change the wording to "who disappeared", "Madeleine's disappearance" and "anyone connected with her disappearance" etc. etc.
.
From the preceding it would therefore seem that the Fund Objectives have been specifically created to give support and financial assistance to the family.  Furthermore the final object (If the above objects are fulfilled) is TOTALLY conditional on the primary objects being achieved, therefore no other missing child or family will obtain any help from the fund whatsoever until the Madeleine case is solved - and maybe not even after that!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have decided NOT to donate!

Madeleine Publicity Material

.
The "official" Find Madeleine web site is offering a set of publicity items so that the public can assist in spreading the word in the task of finding Madeleine.

The pack contains 10 posters,  a car sticker, 2 yellow ribboned luggage labels, and 2 purse reminder cards.  There is also a signed "Thank You" slip from Kate and Gerry.   The set costs a mere £1.75 and with postage at 96 pence each set must be heavily subsidised by the find maddie fund.   It is an excellent pack as can be seen below.

The Lack of News in the Madeleine Case Impedes its Re-Opening

Lisbon, 3rd May. The Portuguese authorities have not made any step to re-open the case of the British girl Madeleine McCann, who disappeared three years ago today, as no new evidence has emerged that justifies another investigation.

According to legal sources consulted by Efe, in spite of the statements periodically made by Madeleine’s parents and those that they made in their libel case against the ex PJ officer who related them to the death of their daughter, no new news has been made public about the case being re-opened.

With the event of the third anniversary of the disappearance of their daughter, Kate and Gerry McCann have appeared on various European TV stations and printed media to insist that their Daughter is alive and to ask for help in looking for her.

The couple, who in 2007, organised the biggest media campaign to gather funds ever seen in a case of a disappearance, have repeatedly said, without giving details, that they have new leads about their daughter’s possible fate.

But Portuguese Justice, which officially closed the case a year after the disappearance, can only re-open it with new evidence and formal denunciations made before the police.

The Portuguese Public Prosecutor, upon archiving the case on 21st July 2008 discounted the indications linking the McCanns to their daughter’s death as well as those that pointed to the abduction of the girl by some stranger.

After having declared them as official suspects in the case, the prosecutors also discarded acting against the couple for having left Madeleine, who was three years old on the night of her disappearance, alone with her younger siblings, whilst they dined with friends.
The couple state that they took turns in going to see the children, but in their statements and those of their friends, as well as the cadaver traces detected in their car and belongings, is where the Portuguese police found the greatest number of contradictions and suspicions in the case.

The Portuguese authorities, accused of not having acted rigorously during the first hours of the disappearance and neglecting the crime scene, never found a trace of the girl and were not even able to bring the couple’s friends back to Portugal for a re-construction of the facts.
The evidence they collected with the help of British police and dogs remained for months in a British laboratory which finally issued a report without sufficient certainty to implicate the parents or shed some light onto the case, according to statements by the then responsible Portuguese police officers.

The McCanns, who suddenly left Portugal when they were declared suspects in September 2007, returned last year to quarrel with the police officer who led the investigation, Gonçalo Amaral, dismissed and retired early and now in danger of ending up in ruin because of the couple’s law suit.

The book in which Amaral covers the details of the investigation – also gathered from the public summary of the case – and suggests that Madeleine died in an accidental manner and that the parents disposed of the body - was banned last February after a first victory of the British couple in the Portuguese civil courts.

Madeleine disappeared on 3rd May 2007 from an apartment in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve and the only thing that remains of her for the moment are the thousands of pages of a Portuguese investigation without guilty parties, and the images and comments of the web page her parents maintain.

The McCanns have always declared themselves to be innocent and determined to find their daughter to whom they today dedicated this message: “Madeleine. Still missing, still missed, we are still looking for you”..

MADAM YOUR SLIP IS SHOWING

.

A MUST to read!
.

NO NEWS IS BAD NEWS

.
This is the latest update as shown on the findmadeleine.com site.

Update: Saturday 13th March 2010

Today we joined hundreds of runners to take part in a 10km run in Hyde Park to support the work of the charity 'Missing People' (http://www.missingpeople.org.uk/).
'Miles for Missing People' is the first of what will now be an annual event.

Doesn't say much about their efforts to keep everyone in the picture being dated 13 March and now 7 weeks old!   Why also is there never any information about what the "detectives" hired by the McCanns are doing?   Surely they should be pushing out any information that could be useful in the efforts to find this litle girl?   Or is it that they are just on one great big "jolly" around Europe and the World at the expense of all those good people who have contributed millions to the Maddie Fund?

Why is there suddenly an apparent reduction in publicity and effort by the McCanns - is it a case of letting the whole thing gradually slide out of the limelight and disappear into the ether never to be returned to the light of day?   Is it an attempt to lull the public into forgetfulness and hope that they themselves will move into obscurity and everyone will forget they left their chldren alone and unprotected on that fateful day of 3rd May 2007?

It is about time we saw some positive contribution from the "detectives" even if only to justify the money being spent on any endeavours they may be making.
