WHY ?

Whilst the loss of a child is a very unpleasant experience for anyone, the case of Madeleine McCann seems to be turning into a merry go round.

Perfectly capable Portuguese Police Detectives were close to solving the case despite all the aggravation on the side being created by the Parents.  Then in step the UK Government who immediately start spending millions of pounds on their investigation and who, so far, have not come up with anything more than 40 "suspects" who for weeks now have still not been interviewed or dealt with.

When this is all over questions need to be asked as to why so much effort and financial and other resources have been put into this one case.   Will every alleged child abduction case in the future receive this treatment?  We doubt it!

I follow your blog and you echo all my views and feelings. I am a single parent who travels extensively with my children right from the age of 18months and 3 year. I would never think to leave my children alone in a country where I don't even speak the language . And even where I do speak the language my children are my priority.

It seems that there are people who run interference on some blogs. They think that making your children's safety a priority is somehow wrong. They say things like "the whole world is not America and we do things differently here" and they think that 'Yanks just don't get it' and then they start bringing up how guns kill children in America. Why is leaving your small children alone in a hotel room OK to them? Are they savages?

If the parents had been on benefits, the twins would have been put on a Child Protection Plan for neglect and it would have been all over the front pages of the tabloids 'Three Under Fives Left Alone in Unlocked Apartment While Parents Drank'.
